Morocco and Malawi Strengthen Judicial Cooperation with Extradition Agreement

The government council was informed this Thursday of the extradition agreement signed between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Malawi on July 16, 2024, in Laâyoune. This document was accompanied by draft law No. 49.24, which aims to formally approve the agreement.

Presented by the Secretary General of the government, Mohamed El Hajoui, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, this agreement is intended to strengthen cooperation between the two nations in judicial matters and in the fight against crime, particularly through the extradition of wanted persons.

During the press briefing following the council meeting, the Minister Delegate in Charge of Relations with Parliament, Mustapha Baitas, specified that this agreement commits both countries to mutually extradite any wanted individuals upon request from either state, in accordance with their respective legal frameworks. Extradition may be sought for prosecutions, trial proceedings, or the enforcement of criminal judgments.
