Morocco and Malawi Strengthen Judicial Cooperation with Extradition Agreement

The government council met on Thursday and acknowledged the extradition agreement signed between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Malawi on July 16, 2024, in Laâyoune. This document was accompanied by Bill No. 49.24, aimed at formally approving the agreement.

Presented by the Secretary General of the Government, Mohamed El Hajoui, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, this agreement seeks to enhance judicial cooperation between the two states and combat crime, particularly through the extradition of wanted individuals.

During the press briefing following the council meeting, the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, Mustapha Baitas, clarified that this agreement commits both countries to mutually extradite any wanted person at the request of either state, in accordance with their respective legislation. Extradition may be requested for prosecution, trial, or the enforcement of a criminal judgment.
