Morocco Becomes a Top Destination for Portuguese Travelers as Easter Approaches

Morocco Strengthens Its Position as a Preferred Destination for Portuguese Tourists Ahead of Easter Holidays

Morocco continues to reinforce its status on the global tourism map, emerging as one of the favorite destinations for Portuguese travelers as the Easter holidays approach.

The demand for Morocco, among other tourist destinations, is experiencing a significant increase among Portuguese tourists, as stated by Pedro da Costa Ferreira, president of the Portuguese Association of Travel Agencies, during an interview with the Portuguese news agency Lusa.

This rise in demand is being driven by early bookings from tourists and their preference for more diverse destinations, even at higher prices. Ferreira explained that "the travel sector is experiencing unprecedented growth this year, with a significant increase in bookings compared to previous years."

He also emphasized that "certain destinations have shown strong performance following the initial booking period. There is a noticeable uptick in demand for destinations such as Morocco, Cape Verde, and the Caribbean, while the island of Madeira continues to dominate local bookings as the Flower Festival approaches."

On his part, Tiago Encarnação, operations director of the travel agency Lusanova, noted that bookings continue at a high pace as the April 25th holidays draw near. He added that nearby destinations like Morocco, Italy, and the Baltic countries are gaining popularity, while Madeira and the Azores remain attractive local choices.

Regarding pricing, Encarnação explained that “the slight increases observed in certain destinations are due to inflation and strong demand, but there are still options available to suit all budgets.”

He also highlighted that "the demand for travel has been robust since the beginning of the year, and the Easter period, which presents an opportunity to travel during the off-season, is seeing a 10% increase in bookings compared to last year."
