Morocco: Cigarette Prices Set to Rise from January 1, 2026, Affecting Several Brands

Morocco: Price Increase on Cigarettes Effective January 1, 2026; Several Brands Affected
Smokers in Morocco will face an increase in cigarette prices starting January 1, 2026, due to a rise in the internal consumption tax (TIC) on tobacco products.
According to a circular from the Administration of Customs and Indirect Taxes (ADII), this measure follows an order issued by the Minister of Economy and Finance that modifies the list of retail prices for manufactured tobacco. The new regulations will officially come into effect on Thursday, January 1, 2026.
Products Affected by the Price Increase
The increase, ranging from 0.5 to 2 dirhams, will impact several categories of products, including:
Some cigarette brands,
Rolling tobacco,
Muassel used for hookahs,
Cigars, sold individually or in boxes,
As well as cigarillos.
Among the affected brands are Camel and Marlboro, according to the official document attached to the circular.
The ADII specifies that this update also includes the new calculation basis for the ad valorem component of the TIC, rendering previous circulars obsolete.
This price increase is part of a fiscal policy aimed at strengthening tobacco taxation for both budgetary and public health reasons.
