Morocco Hosts the Headquarters of the African Clubs Association (ACA) Football Association

A historic agreement was signed on Monday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Salé, formalizing the establishment of the headquarters of the African Clubs Association (ACA) in Morocco. The agreement was signed by Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), and Hersi Ally Said, President of the ACA.

During the ceremony, attended by members of the ACA executive committee and the FRMF board, Mr. Lekjaa expressed his gratitude to the ACA for choosing Morocco as its host country. He emphasized that this event represents “a historic moment for Africa” and highlighted the significant impact this new structure will have on club football, which he believes will serve as a catalyst for promoting continental competitions, particularly the Champions League and the CAF Cup. Mr. Lekjaa also stressed the importance of seeking new sponsors to support the development of African clubs, calling for a major challenge this year: to compete against top global teams in the Club World Cup.

Mr. Lekjaa added that the ACA will find in Morocco the necessary logistical resources, a conducive environment, and unconditional support to implement its development plan. For his part, Mr. Hersi Ally Said welcomed this initiative, noting that the signing of this agreement strengthens Morocco’s position on the continent. He recalled that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) played a key role in creating the ACA to unite African clubs, foster cooperation, and address the challenges of continental football.

The President of the ACA also emphasized that the choice of Morocco as the host country for the headquarters reflects the trust it inspires for the development of African football. Morocco, among the first to propose hosting the ACA headquarters, presented a compelling case, showcasing its modern infrastructure and its commitment to gathering all the necessary resources to support the association’s activities.

This decision is part of a strategic approach aimed at promoting club football in Africa. Given its geographical position, infrastructure, and commitment to unity and the development of African football, Morocco is a natural choice for this initiative.

The ACA, officially established last year, is led by Hersi Ally Said, who is also the president of the Tanzanian club Young Africans.
