Morocco: Leveraging Digital Technology to Enhance Port Competitiveness

SIPORTS 2026 and the Digital Meetings in El Jadida

From April 1 to 3, 2026, the Mohammed VI Exhibition Park in El Jadida will host the inaugural edition of the International Port and Ecosystems Fair (SIPORTS). This event brings together over 6,000 professionals, 300 exhibitors from four continents, and representatives from more than 45 countries. Concurrently, PORTNET S.A., the national single window for foreign trade, will organize the Digital Meetings, themed: “Smart Ports, Smart Trade: when Digital Serves Port Performance.”

Digital Innovation: A Key to Port Competitiveness

Port competitiveness now relies not just on infrastructure but also on the integration of advanced digital solutions. These tools facilitate smoother exchanges, enhance operational security, and optimize logistics chains. Port operators, foreign trade stakeholders, public decision-makers, and innovators will discuss ongoing transformations in the context of the reconfiguration of global trade flows.

Strategy and Operational Innovation

SIPORTS serves as a strategic space and a laboratory for innovation. It reflects the public authorities’ commitment to make digital a structuring lever for Morocco’s logistical integration, particularly at the African level, thereby enhancing its position in international trade. The event showcases best practices and solutions for a more connected and efficient port sector.

Smart Port Challenge 2026: Towards Smart Ports

A highlight of SIPORTS, the Smart Port Challenge 2026 will engage startups, students, researchers, and businesses from March 1 to 25, 2026. This digital hackathon, co-organized by PORTNET and the National Ports Agency (ANP), will focus on three major areas:

  • Energy transition and reducing the environmental impact of ports
  • Operational performance optimization through automation
  • Facilitating trade, with the goal of streamlining regional and international exchanges

An African and Regional Ambition

This edition emphasizes Africa by promoting the emergence of solutions tailored to local realities, capable of supporting the development of African port infrastructures. It underscores Morocco’s strategy to play a leading role in the continent’s economic integration, utilizing digital as a catalyst for competitiveness, innovation, and sustainability.
