Morocco Reaffirms Its Support for Arab Priorities at the 115th Session of the Economic and Social Council of the Arab League

In accordance with the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Kingdom of Morocco has reaffirmed its commitment to support the priority issues of Arab countries and to achieve the goals of Arab collective action. This statement was made on Thursday in Cairo by the Moroccan Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, H.E. Mohamed Ait Ouali, during his participation in the 115th ministerial session of the Arab League’s Economic and Social Council.

Ambassador Ait Ouali emphasized that Morocco remains firmly committed to promoting sustainable social and economic development to ensure the prosperity of the populations in the Arab region and to meet their aspirations. Regarding the Palestinian cause, he reiterated the steadfast position of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, President of the Al-Quds Committee, in favor of the Palestinian people’s right to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The ambassador also stressed the importance of adhering to the ceasefire agreement and making progress towards the next steps to facilitate the reconstruction of Gaza, as well as to support efforts to preserve the holy sites in Jerusalem and bolster the resilience of the city’s inhabitants.

In this context, H.E. Ait Ouali reminded attendees of Morocco’s support for the project aimed at assisting small and medium enterprises in Palestine, which seeks to revitalize the Palestinian economy, create job opportunities, and improve family incomes.

The ambassador also praised the successful mediation led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which resolved the crisis regarding Palestinian funds frozen by Israel, as announced on February 10 by the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization.

On another note, H.E. Ait Ouali highlighted Morocco’s support for infrastructure projects in Yemen, aimed at reviving the country’s economy and supporting its development after years of conflict.

He further commended the efforts of the institutions of Arab collective action and the specialized ministerial councils, which have addressed essential issues such as the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, the Arab strategy for water security, and the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan.

The Moroccan delegation participating in this session included the Moroccan Ambassador to Cairo, the Permanent Representative to the Arab League, as well as representatives from the Ministries of Economy and Finance, and Industry and Trade.
