Morocco: Snowfall, occasional thundershowers with hail, and strong gusts of wind expected from Tuesday to Thursday.

Heavy Snow and Stormy Showers Forecasted Across Several Provinces

The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has announced that from Tuesday to Thursday, several provinces in the Kingdom will experience heavy snowfall, occasionally stormy showers with hail in some areas, as well as strong gusts of wind.

Starting Tuesday at 10:00 AM until Wednesday at 12:00 PM, significant snowfall (between 50-80 cm) is expected above 1,800 meters in the provinces of Al Haouz, Ouarzazate, Khenifra, Midelt, and Azilal. This prediction has led to the issuance of a red alert bulletin by the DGM.

Additionally, snowfall ranging from 25 to 50 cm over 1,400 meters is projected to affect the provinces of Ifrane, Chichaoua, Beni Mellal, Taroudant, Tinghir, Al Haouz, Ouarzazate, Khenifra, Midelt, and Azilal, within the same timeframe. Other provinces, including Sefrou, Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, Guercif, Taza, and Boulemane, will likely see 10 to 25 cm of snowfall during this period, as noted in an orange alert bulletin.

On Tuesday, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM, stormy showers with occasional hail are anticipated, bringing estimated precipitation levels of 40 to 50 mm in the provinces of Azilal, Chefchaouen, Quezzane, and Al Haouz. For other regions such as Tanger-Assilah, Mohammadia, Nouaceur, Rabat, Youssoufia, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Meknes, El Hajeb, Ifrane, Khenifra, Fes, Sefrou, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Fahs-Anjra, Larache, Tetouan, M’Diq-Fnideq, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Marrakech, Kenitra, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Chichaoua, Rehamna, Casablanca, Mediouna, Sidi Bennour, Salé, Skhirate-Temara, El Jadida, and Safi, rainfall is expected to range from 30 to 40 mm.

Furthermore, from Tuesday at 10:00 AM until Wednesday at 9:00 AM, rainfall of 35 to 45 mm is projected for the provinces of Benslimane, Khouribga, Settat, Berrechid, and Khemisset. The same phenomenon (35 to 50 mm) is forecasted from Wednesday at 12:00 PM to Thursday at 9:00 AM in the provinces of Taza, Berkane, Driouch, Nador, Oujda-Angad, Jerada, Taourirt, Al Hoceima, and Guercif.

Lastly, strong wind gusts of 75 to 85 km/h are anticipated from Tuesday at 10:00 AM until Wednesday at 6:00 AM in the provinces of Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Zagora, Tata, Sidi Ifni, Al Haouz, Taza, Guelmim, Tiznit, Azilal, Midelt, Boulemane, Guercif, Tinghir, and Taourirt.
