Morocco-Spain: A Strategic Cooperation in Full Consolidation

Strengthening the Strategic Partnership Between Morocco and Spain
The enhancement of the strategic partnership between Morocco and Spain was at the heart of discussions on Thursday in Madrid between Nasser Bourita, the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, and his Spanish counterpart, José Manuel Albares Bueno, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation.
Following their meeting, the two ministers praised, in a statement to the press, the positive dynamics currently characterizing bilateral relations. They emphasized that this development is based on solid foundations such as transparency, mutual trust, and constant, sincere, and constructive dialogue.
The ministers highlighted the exceptional quality of this forward-looking partnership, expressing their shared commitment to further strengthening it. This exemplary model of cooperation is part of a new phase in relations between the two countries, which was initiated by the meeting between His Majesty King Mohammed VI and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez in April 2022.
They noted that this historic meeting marked the beginning of an unprecedented phase in bilateral relations, providing strong momentum for a comprehensive partnership grounded in trust, mutual respect, and ongoing consultation.
Moreover, they reiterated their commitment to addressing matters of common interest in a spirit of cooperation, with the aim of consolidating multidimensional collaboration, particularly in the human, economic, commercial, and security sectors.
Finally, Mr. Bourita and Mr. Albares expressed their delight at the numerous initiatives and high-level exchanges that have strengthened the ties between the two countries. They also acknowledged the progress made in joint projects, especially those related to the preparation for the 2030 World Cup, a major event poised to further enhance this strategic partnership.
