NARSA: Celebration of National Road Safety Day
Morocco Mobilized for Road Safety
On February 18th, Morocco observes National Road Safety Day, an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers of road insecurity and strengthening collective mobilization against a scourge that continues to claim thousands of lives each year.
This day serves as a significant opportunity to reinforce the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and to promote a culture of prevention and responsibility among all road users.
2,300 Deaths Annually Among Motorcyclists
This year’s campaign is centered around the slogan:
“2,300 deaths per year in Morocco among motorcycle users: Let’s put an end to this tragedy.”
The initiative highlights the scale of human losses on the Kingdom’s roads, particularly among two-wheeled vehicle drivers and passengers, who are considered particularly vulnerable.
This alarming figure underlines the urgent need to intensify awareness efforts and encourage more responsible behavior behind the wheel and handlebars.
National Road Safety Agency Reviews the Situation
On this occasion, the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA) presented an overview of the main challenges facing the national road safety system.
Identified challenges include risky behaviors, disregard for traffic laws, as well as issues related to road enforcement and road safety education. The agency emphasizes the necessity of strengthening preventive measures and controls to significantly reduce the number of accidents.
Towards Enhanced Collective Mobilization
National Road Safety Day reminds us that the fight against traffic accidents is a shared responsibility. Institutions, civil society, and citizens are called upon to unite their efforts to establish a sustainable culture of safety and to protect lives.
