Neymar leaves Al Hilal by mutual consent.

On Monday, January 27, Saudi club Al Hilal announced the mutual termination of Brazilian international Neymar’s contract. The club expressed its gratitude towards the player in a statement on its X account, stating: “Al Hilal and Neymar have mutually agreed to terminate their contractual relationship. The club expresses its appreciation to Neymar for all he has contributed during his time at Al Hilal and wishes him every success in his career.”

The news of this separation was widely covered by the media throughout the day, which also mentioned Neymar’s potential return to the Brazilian club Santos, where he first made his mark on the international stage.

Recruited in August 2023 from Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar, the all-time top scorer for the Brazilian national team with 79 goals in 127 matches, had a mixed experience in the Saudi Pro League. Merely two months after joining Al Hilal, he suffered a serious left knee injury, tearing his anterior cruciate ligament during a World Cup qualifying match with Brazil.

After being sidelined for nearly a year, Neymar made his return last October; however, ongoing physical issues limited his playtime to just over forty minutes across two matches.
