Official Inauguration of the Omar Tazi Educational and Humanitarian Center in Figuig
Inauguration Marks a Major Step for Women in Morocco
On the sidelines of the 70th anniversary celebrations of Morocco’s independence, the Omar Tazi Educational and Humanitarian Center was officially inaugurated this Tuesday in Figuig. This event signifies a significant advancement in the fight for the empowerment of vulnerable young women.
The inauguration was presided over by:
- Mr. Noureddine Ouabbou, Governor of the Figuig Province.
- Dr. Lamia Tazi, President of the Omar Tazi Foundation.
- Mr. Nouredine Abdelhak, President of the Al Amal Association Federation.
A Safe Haven and Strategic Partnership
Born from a strategic partnership between the Omar Tazi Foundation and the Al Amal Association Federation, the Omar Tazi Center is designed to be a true incubator for autonomy. Its mission is to host up to 48 young girls aged 15 to 25 living in difficult situations, providing them with shelter and essential tools for their professional integration.
"This welcome center is the culmination of several years of struggle. It ensures that girls, particularly those forced to leave child protection facilities at 18, have a warm refuge and the opportunity to acquire paying jobs. Our mission is clear: to turn precariousness into opportunities," explains Dr. Lamia Tazi, President of the Omar Tazi Foundation.
Comprehensive Support
The Center is committed to delivering holistic development and sustainable integration through a range of services:
- 25 comfortable suites to ensure a pleasant and secure living environment.
- A strong partnership with the Office of Vocational Training and Employment Promotion (OFPPT) providing recognized diplomas and concrete integration projects.
- Tailored psychosocial and educational support for each individual pathway.
- Various educational and recreational activities (reading, sports, etc.) organized for comprehensive development and the well-being of residents.
The Omar Tazi Center thus serves as a socio-economic springboard for these young women, preparing them to become independent and active members of society.
About the Omar Tazi Foundation
Founded in 2011 with the slogan "A Smile for Life…", the Omar Tazi Foundation is a key player in education, health, and social services. It finances and manages transformative projects, ranging from school renovations to the organization of medical and surgical caravans, as well as empowerment actions for individuals in extreme vulnerability through the "Sadaqa Jaria" program.
