Olive Harvest Season: SRM-RSK Strengthens Efforts to Reduce Wastewater Pollution and Protect the Environment

markdown

With the arrival of the olive harvest season and the ramping up of oil mill activities, environmental challenges associated with the discharge of olive wastewater are resurfacing. These effluents rank among the most detrimental industrial pollutants for soil and groundwater. In this context, SRM-RSK continues to play a central role in supporting this sensitive period by implementing concrete measures aimed at limiting pollution and preserving the ecosystem of the Sidi Kacem province.

Evaporation Stations at the Heart of Environmental Intervention

The evaporation stations in Ain Dfali and Bab Tiouka are essential pillars in the treatment of wastewater produced by both traditional and modern oil mills. These infrastructures ensure the collection and evaporation of effluents according to stringent environmental standards, thereby contributing to a reduction in their infiltration into nearby rivers and agricultural areas.

Action Incorporated into an Emergency Plan for the Sebou Basin

These efforts form part of the Emergency Industrial Pollution Cleanup Plan for the Sebou Basin, which aims to alleviate the environmental pressure generated by industrial and agricultural activities. This initiative also promotes better coordination with oil mill owners and encourages them to adopt more environmentally friendly practices in managing their discharges.

Numbers Reflecting the Scope of the Efforts

In Ain Dfali, eight oil mills are targeted, six of which are currently operational, with an evaporation capacity reaching 40,000 cubic meters. At the Bab Tiouka station, nearly thirty production units are monitored, with a capacity close to 50,000 cubic meters, illustrating the significant investments made to tackle seasonal pollution.

A Sustainable Commitment to Responsible Development

Through these interventions, SRM-RSK reaffirms its commitment to protecting natural resources and improving the living conditions of citizens, emphasizing that ecological transition remains a strategic choice requiring collective mobilization and concrete solutions that reconcile economic development with environmental preservation.
