Opening of the National Higher Institute of Music and Choreographic Arts (INSMAC) for the 2025-2026 Academic Year

In line with its strategy to develop artistic education, promote creativity, and support Cultural and Creative Industries, the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication announces the opening of the National Superior Institute of Music and Choreographic Arts (INSMAC), starting from the 2025-2026 academic year.

Situated on an expansive area of over 9,000 square meters in the heart of the capital, close to the Mohammed V Theater in Rabat—at the corner of Moulay Rachid, Patrice Lumumba, and Mansour Ed-Dahbi Avenue—INSMAC is the first university institution of its kind in Morocco. It aims to become a center of excellence for academic training and research in the fields of music and choreographic arts.

This new establishment fully aligns with the national movement to enhance artistic education. Its ambition is to train a new generation of artists, educators, and creative professionals capable of meeting the demands of the cultural market, both nationally and internationally. Furthermore, it aims to foster high-level academic research in musicology and choreography, befitting the richness of Moroccan cultural heritage.

Adopting an integrated approach to the fields of music and choreographic arts, INSMAC offers a versatile training curriculum that combines artistic excellence, technical skill, and intellectual openness. It awards degrees under the LMD system (Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctorate) and offers both practical and theoretical teachings: technical courses for musicians and choreographers, transversal subjects, as well as a general education that addresses contemporary issues in the cultural sector.
Modern facilities of INSMAC

The Institute is equipped with modern facilities that meet international standards, including a 400-seat theater, a state-of-the-art recording studio, multipurpose educational spaces, classrooms, conference rooms, a library-media library, and a cafeteria.

Enrollment will begin after the results of the July 2025 baccalaureate exams. Scheduled to start in the 2025-2026 academic year, the opening of INSMAC reaffirms the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing the quality of national artistic education, promoting Moroccan musical identity, and training skilled professionals capable of supporting the growth of cultural and creative industries at both national and international levels.
