Premier League: Milner Makes History with Record Appearances

James Milner Makes History as All-Time Premier League Appearance Leader

English midfielder James Milner etched his name into English football history on Saturday by becoming the player with the most appearances in the Premier League. Milner achieved this remarkable feat with his 654th appearance during Brighton & Hove Albion’s 2-0 victory against Brentford FC.

At 40 years old, Milner surpassed the previous record held by former England international Gareth Barry, who had accumulated 653 matches in the league.

Milner remarked that “surpassing this record is a significant achievement,” but emphasized that the most important aspect is to “regain focus with the team,” highlighting that the victory was necessary to break a six-match winless streak.

Milner began his Premier League career at just 16 years old with Leeds United in 2002, and throughout his illustrious career, he has worn the jerseys of Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Liverpool FC, spanning more than two decades.

Additionally, Ryan Giggs (632 matches) and Frank Lampard (609 matches) are the only other players to have crossed the 600-match milestone in the competition.
