Rabat Honored with the Mediterranean Excellence Award

Fatiha El Moudni, the President of the Rabat City Council, received the Mediterranean Excellence Award in Rome on Monday. This accolade was bestowed by the Association of Mediterranean Journalists in recognition of the city’s commitment to social inclusion and culture. The award ceremony was attended by prominent figures from the political, sports, and cultural arenas.

El Moudni stated that this award reflects Rabat’s dedication to co-development and sustainability, aimed at building a more equitable and harmonious society. She also highlighted the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who has initiated projects such as the “Rabat, City of Light, Moroccan Capital of Culture” program.

Under royal leadership, Rabat has transformed into a green, inclusive, and resilient city. El Moudni emphasized the collaboration between the city and various stakeholders to make the capital more eco-friendly and welcoming. She added that this award encourages ongoing efforts to foster a community where everyone feels valued.

Rabat has previously received the UN-Habitat Honorary Award and has been designated by UNESCO as the World Book Capital for 2026.
