Resounding Success for the 7th Edition of the Halieutis Salon 2025 in Agadir

The Halieutis Fair: A Record-Breaking Success for Sustainable Fisheries
The Halieutis Fair, held from February 5 to 9, 2025, in Agadir under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, achieved remarkable success, attracting nearly 65,000 visitors—a record for this event. Under the theme "Research and Innovation for a Sustainable Fisheries Sector," this edition highlighted Morocco’s commitment to the sustainability of fisheries resources and the competitiveness of local industries.
Inaugurated by the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, the event gathered more than 523 exhibitors from 54 countries, with France serving as the guest country. For the first time, delegations from six countries participated, including South Korea, the United Kingdom, India, and Oman.
Spanning an area of 20,000 square meters, the fair covered a diverse range of segments, such as institutions, fleet and equipment, the valorization of fishery products, international cooperation, and marine aquaculture. Discussions among public institutions, researchers, professionals, and investors allowed for the exploration of new cooperation opportunities.
Bilateral sessions were a highlight, featuring meetings between the Secretary of State for Maritime Fisheries, Zakia Driouich, and several ministers responsible for fisheries, notably from Côte d’Ivoire, Somalia, Gabon, Libya, and Mauritania. A joint commission between Morocco and Mauritania led to the signing of several agreements regarding fisheries research and training.
Significant agreements were also reached, including a funding commitment of 129 million Dirhams for the New Generation Fishermen Village project in Souiria K’dima, made possible through a partnership with JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency). Additionally, discussions addressed major issues such as resource sustainability and innovation within the sector.
The fair was also marked by the inauguration of new fisheries research infrastructures and the reception of new research vessels, bolstering Morocco’s capacity for marine research.
The participation of Moroccan companies was notably strong, with a record 165 businesses attending, up from 119 in the previous edition, showcasing the growing dynamism of this strategic sector.
Finally, honorary trophies were awarded, including prizes for the best stands, innovation in the fishing industries, and jury awards, emphasizing excellence in the field.
With this successful edition, the Halieutis Fair opens new perspectives for the future of the fishing industry, promising collaborations and strategic developments in upcoming events.
