Riad Sultan Theater: Three Years of Artistic Excellence and a Fresh Perspective

To celebrate its three years of existence, the Riad Sultan Theatre unveils a new visual identity that seamlessly blends modernity with tradition. This civic theatre continues to establish itself as an essential hub for art and culture enthusiasts, reaffirming its commitment to artistic diversity and access to culture for all.
Staying true to its core values—creativity, inclusion, and sharing—the Riad Sultan Theatre presents a rich and varied program for February 2025, illustrating its ambition to be a driving force of artistic expression.
The program kicks off on Saturday, February 1, with a meeting organized by the Ali Zaoua Academy, which offers professional training for careers in cultural and artistic project administration and management, highlighting the importance of education in the cultural sector.
On Saturday, February 8, the stage will feature the play “The Wall, the Light Itself is Darker”, directed by Yassine Ahajjam. This poignant work explores themes of solitude and disillusionment through the stories of two individuals separated by a wall.
On Thursday, February 13, cinema will take center stage with a screening of the film “Autumn of Apples” by Mohammed Mouftakir. This film follows Slimane, a young boy searching for the truth about his mother’s history, skillfully blending reality and fiction to explore family ties and buried secrets.
On Saturday, February 15, audiences will enjoy a fusion concert of jazz, flamenco, and world music featuring the Fran Molina World Champs Trio & Zougaa. This virtuoso trio delivers a unique and enchanting musical experience enriched with rhythms and melodies from around the globe.
On Monday, February 17, “Little Secrets”, directed by Rachid Kasimi, will immerse spectators in the intimate nature of human relationships, telling the story of two couples facing the tensions of daily life within a confined family setting.
On Saturday, February 22, the theatre will host a lecture on “The Poetics of Narration in the Works of Ahmed Bouzfour”, led by literary experts. A theatrical reading will enhance this reflection on the richness and subtlety of his writing.
Finally, on Friday, February 28, the contemporary dance performance UP° will conclude the month in grand style. Born from an artistic residency at the Centre Chorégraphique National Le Phare du Havre, under the direction of Fouad Boussouf, this masterpiece fuses movement, music, and childhood memories. The encounter between violinist Gabriel Majou and dancer Paul Molina transforms the commonplace object of a football into a poetic and nostalgic symbol.
A Constant Commitment to Artistic Learning
Throughout the month, the Riad Sultan Theatre will resume its workshops in theatre, contemporary dance, and circus, welcoming children, teenagers, and adults alike. These accessible training sessions provide an inspiring environment to develop artistic skills, encourage personal expression, and uncover hidden talents.
With this bold and inclusive program, the Riad Sultan Theatre celebrates three years of local cultural contribution and invites the public to experience moments of creation, reflection, and emotion.
