Mohammed VI Football Complex Hosts the Official Launch of “Next Gen Draft” Program
On Friday, the Mohammed VI Football Complex was the backdrop for the official unveiling of the international program “Next Gen Draft,” an initiative spearheaded by LaLiga aimed at identifying and nurturing young football talents.
This program, launched in partnership with EA Sports and EvoSport, and backed by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, combines competition, training, and immersive experiences. Its objective is to bring football closer to youth from diverse cultural backgrounds around the world.
Scheduled to take place for the first time in Morocco from March 27 to 29, this phase aims to provide genuine opportunities for the new generation of Moroccan male and female footballers, allowing them to showcase their potential within a structured international framework.
In a statement to the press, Juan Florez, LaLiga’s director of sports projects, expressed his enthusiasm for the launch of the second edition in Morocco, emphasizing the country’s wealth of football talent. He stated that he expects to discover promising profiles among the young participants.
He further clarified that this initiative aligns with LaLiga’s international strategy, which has been in operation for a decade across more than 60 countries, resulting in over 1,000 sports projects worldwide. The program is set to feature a second phase in Spain, where selected talents will receive training from LaLiga coaches and compete in matches against Spanish club academies.
Omar Benazouz, director of EvoSport, noted that Morocco was chosen as the first stop for this edition due to the international prominence of Moroccan football. He emphasized that the conditions are ideal for assessing and supporting young talents according to high training standards.
According to him, this program represents a unique opportunity for young players to compete in an international setting while benefiting from quality guidance, in addition to serving as a platform for exchanging expertise.
Beyond Morocco, the 2026 edition of “Next Gen Draft” will also take place in several countries, including Mexico, Japan, Nigeria, and China, culminating in a final phase in Spain that will gather nearly 900 young talents from around the globe.
