Sebou Basin: Dams Reach Over 66% Filling Rate

The filling rate of the dams under the Sebou Hydraulic Basin Agency reached 66.1% as of January 27, 2026, according to data from the “Ma Dyalna” platform of the Ministry of Equipment and Water.
Total Hydraulic Reserves
The report indicates that the total volume of reserves in the agency’s eleven main dams exceeds 3.067 billion cubic meters, reflecting a significant improvement compared to the same period last year.
Performance of Key Dams
Unit Dam, which plays a central role in irrigating the Gharb plain and protecting against floods in the R’gagha wadi, recorded a volume of 2.516 billion cubic meters, with a filling rate of 71.4%, compared to 39% at the same time last year.
Idriss I Dam shows a filling rate of 56.2%, up from 24% during the same period in 2025.
Infrastructure of the Sebou Basin
The Sebou Basin includes, in addition to its 11 major dams, 51 smaller dams and a retention lake. It spans nearly 40,000 square kilometers and significantly contributes to the irrigation of agricultural and industrial activities, which are vital for the national economy.
National Situation
At the national level, the total volume of major dams exceeds 9 billion cubic meters, with an average filling rate of 53.9%, reflecting a notable improvement in the Kingdom’s water resources.
