On Friday, March 13, 2026, the Moroccan Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AMMPS) and the National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis Activities (ANRAC) signed a memorandum of understanding at the AMMPS headquarters in Al Irfane. This agreement outlines the procedures for registering cannabis-based products.
This initiative is part of the implementation of Law No. 13-21 related to the lawful uses of cannabis. It also aligns with the mission of the Moroccan Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AMMPS), which is responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and effectiveness of health products available in the market while supporting the development of the sector, particularly in the manufacturing of medicines and health products derived from this industry.
The objective of this memorandum is to continue and enhance the efforts of both agencies to expedite administrative procedures and simplify the processes applicable to operators wishing to submit registration applications for cannabis-based products.
Additionally, it aims to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and control standards applicable to cannabis-based products, within the framework of a rigorous regulatory system that adheres to public health requirements.
Through this partnership, AMMPS and ANRAC reaffirm their joint commitment to establishing a transparent, efficient framework aligned with international standards. This cooperation will contribute to the responsible and structured development of the national cannabis industry while ensuring the protection of public health and the safety of citizens.
