Snowfalls, heavy rain possibly with thunderstorms, and strong wind gusts expected on Tuesday and Wednesday in several provinces of the Kingdom.
Severe Weather Alert: Snow, Heavy Rain, and Strong Winds Expected in Multiple Provinces
The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has announced that heavy snowfall, intense rain—sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms—and strong wind gusts are forecasted for several provinces of the Kingdom on Tuesday and Wednesday.
From Tuesday at 1 PM until Wednesday at 11 PM, snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 cm are anticipated at altitudes above 1,500 meters in the provinces of Azilal, Ifrane, Midelt, Boulemane, and Sefrou, as indicated in an orange alert bulletin issued by the DGM.
Additionally, light to moderate snowfall, ranging from 5 to 15 cm, is expected during the same timeframe in the provinces of Tinghir, Taza, Khenifra, Beni Mellal, Al Haouz, Ouarzazate, Al Hoceima, and Guercif, according to the same source.
Furthermore, heavy rains, which may be thunderous at times, are anticipated to total between 40 and 70 mm, from Tuesday at 1 PM to Wednesday at 12 PM, impacting the provinces of Taza, Larache, Ouezzane, Tanger-Assilah, Tétouan, Fahs-Anjra, M’diq-Fnideq, Al Hoceima, Ifrane, Kénitra, Taounate, and Chefchaouen. The DGM also notes that a similar weather phenomenon with rainfall amounts of 25 to 35 mm will affect the provinces of Sidi Slimane, Sidi Kacem, Benslimane, Berrechid, Casablanca, Mediouna, Mohammadia, Nouaceur, Khémisset, Rabat, Salé, Skhirat-Témara, Meknès, El Hajeb, Fès, Sefrou, Moulay Yaâcoub, Khénifra, Khouribga, and Settat.
Finally, strong wind gusts reaching speeds of 75 to 85 km/h will occur from Tuesday at 6 PM until Wednesday at 6 AM in the provinces of Meknès, Skhirate-Temara, Salé, Rabat, Kénitra, Taza, Moulay Yacoub, Larache, Sefrou, Fès, Boulemane, and Midelt, the communiqué concluded.
