Speculation on CAN Tickets in Morocco: Individual Arrested in Agadir

Police Arrests Suspect in Illegal Ticket Speculation Case for Africa Cup of Nations

Early Friday morning, members of the Prefectural Judicial Police in Agadir, in close coordination with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), arrested a 37-year-old man suspected of being involved in illegal speculation on tickets for the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) football matches.

Suspicious Advertisements on Social Media

According to a security source, the informational monitoring services of the National Security had identified posts on social media offering the sale of CAN tickets through illegal means. Technical investigations and field inquiries based on this information led to the identification of the suspect, who was apprehended near a large commercial center in Agadir.

Seizure of Tickets and Cash

The same source clarified that the searches and seizures carried out in connection with this case uncovered a batch of tickets for matches scheduled as part of the African competition, as well as a sum of money suspected to be derived from the proceeds of this criminal activity.

Ongoing Judicial Investigation

The suspect is currently under judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, aimed at clarifying the circumstances and implications of this case, identifying the charges against him, and determining any potential ramifications of this illegal network.

Continued Investigations to Dismantle Networks

In the same context, the judicial police affiliated with the General Directorate of National Security opened judicial inquiries last Tuesday, under the supervision of the relevant prosecutor’s offices, to verify the criminal activities attributed to eight individuals suspected of involvement in ticket speculation for the CAN currently being held in Morocco.

Security Operations Across Multiple Cities

The security source indicated that ongoing investigations have resulted in the arrest of suspects during security operations conducted in various cities, including Rabat, Témara, Agadir, Salé, Marrakech, and Mohammedia, as part of continuous efforts to combat practices that undermine the integrity of organizing major sporting events.
