SRM Souss-Massa Strengthens Its Monitoring System in Response to Rainfall

As part of its preventive strategy, the General Management of the Souss-Massa Regional Multiservices Company (SRM-SM) has decided to enhance its level of vigilance and mobilization to address the rainfall events recorded throughout its area of operation, in close coordination with local authorities and various stakeholders.

The SRM-SM manages an extensive sanitation network exceeding 4,000 kilometers, which includes more than 175,000 ancillary structures, such as access shafts and manholes. This system is complemented by around 140 storm overflows and 71 pumping stations, illustrating the scale and complexity of the infrastructure overseen by the company.

The deployed program is based on the continuous operation of clearing and cleaning infrastructures throughout the year, with significant reinforcement during the winter period. Special attention is given to sensitive areas and trouble spots that have experienced water accumulation during previous rainy seasons.

Operationally, teams address all incidents, whether observed on-site by technical services or reported by citizens and institutional partners. This approach aims to ensure rapid and effective interventions to minimize the risks associated with overflows and stagnant rainwater.

Additionally, at the request of the relevant authorities, the SRM-SM also lends support to other entities for sites not directly under its jurisdiction, in a spirit of institutional solidarity. These interventions include various public spaces and essential facilities, such as markets and major sports infrastructures.

On the logistical front, a significant deployment has been mobilized, including about thirty hydro-mechanical trucks owned by SRM-SM, supplemented by additional resources from subcontracting companies, as well as pumps of all categories intended for pumping and water evacuation operations.

In terms of human resources, nearly 120 SRM-SM agents have been mobilized, supported by more than 250 agents from subcontracting companies. These teams are organized into monitoring units and operational standby teams available 24/7 to ensure continuity of service and immediate response capability.

Finally, the company has strengthened its communication and complaint reception systems through its customer relations center and digital channels, thus facilitating the follow-up of complaints and the rapid handling of emergency situations.

The SRM-SM emphasizes that this setup is part of a preventive and ongoing coordination initiative aimed at reducing the impact of rainfall, protecting populations, and safeguarding public and private property.
