Last Friday: A Special Day in Marrakech

Last Friday was no ordinary day in Marrakech. Students from Al Hilali International School opted to step beyond the confines of traditional education to launch their own initiative focused on civic education. This action, spearheaded by the Interact Club under the coordination of student Aliya Ourik, quickly transformed into a concrete exercise in teamwork, organization, and autonomous management.

A Solidarity Bazaar to Support Mountain Families

The activities commenced at a small stand set up during the celebration on December 5th. Students offered cakes, pizzas, and homemade dishes to raise funds for underprivileged families in mountainous regions. Behind this simple gesture lay a profound lesson in solidarity, bolstered by active participation from parents and the educational support of the school’s administration.

“National Journey”: A Performance that Strengthens Identity

The school then hosted an educational show titled “National Journey, Duty of Memory,” which combined artistic displays, national dances, and musical performances. This celebration aimed primarily at nurturing a sense of belonging among students and fostering a deep understanding of civic values.

A Solidarity Campaign to Raise Social Awareness

The day concluded with a collection of warm clothing and essential goods for families in precarious situations. The enthusiasm of the students and parents prompted Aliya Ourik to emphasize that any initiative, no matter how modest, can generate a real impact. For her, solidarity is not merely a slogan but a daily practice built upon the accumulation of small actions.

The day wrapped up with the presentation of symbolic certificates and a musical performance that brought students and families together in an atmosphere of cohesion and unity.

Art, Memory, and Commitment Education

The performance “National Journey, Duty of Memory” was not only an artistic event but also a vital educational step aimed at deepening students’ understanding of Morocco’s history, sovereignty, and symbols. The Interact Club also highlighted the scope of its charitable actions: distributing meals during Ramadan, supporting mountain villages, and participating in various humanitarian projects.

Aliya Ourik, who also manages the school radio, believes that these initiatives provide a space for expression and learning, allowing students to explore the social, artistic, and human dimensions of collective life. These activities align with the educational vision of General Director Mr. Farouk El Hilali, who places citizenship and sustainable development at the heart of the educational project.

In this way, the students of Marrakech offer an inspiring example of a school that transcends classical teaching to become a true laboratory of memory, initiative, and civic values.
