Sunday Weather in Morocco: Cold Temperatures, Isolated Rain Showers, and Snow Expected in the Mountains

The General Directorate of Meteorology forecasts relatively cold to cold weather for this Sunday in several regions across the Kingdom, particularly in the Atlas Mountains, the Rif, and the high plateaus of the Oriental, especially during the morning and at night.

Light Rainfall and Isolated Showers

According to weather forecasts, light rain is expected locally on the western Mediterranean coastline and in the Rif region. Additionally, scattered showers, which may sometimes be thundery, could affect the southern part of the Oriental region and the Middle Atlas. Furthermore, the sky will be partly cloudy over the High Atlas, Saïss, and the northern and central plains, with the possibility of a few drops of rain.

Snow Expected in Higher Elevations

Snowfall is also anticipated on the peaks of the Rif, Middle Atlas, and the high plateaus of the Oriental. Low clouds accompanied by local mist formations are expected to develop in the morning and evening over the northern and central plains, the phosphate plateaus, and Oulmès, as well as over the plains west of the Atlas Mountains.

Strong Wind Gusts and Dust Storms

Strong wind gusts are expected in the southern part of the Oriental, the central coasts, and the southern provinces, as well as locally in the southeast of the country, which may lead to dust storms in certain areas.

Decreasing Temperatures

Minimum temperatures will range between -7 and -3°C in the Atlas Mountains, 0 and 5°C in the Rif and high plateaus, 8 and 14°C in the Saharan provinces, and 4 and 9°C in the rest of the country. During the day, a slight decrease in temperatures is expected in the northern Oriental, the Anti-Atlas, and the eastern provinces of the south, while a relative increase is anticipated in other regions.

Sea Conditions

The sea will be calm to slightly choppy in the Strait, rough to choppy between Tangier and Larache, and choppy to rough along the rest of the Moroccan coasts.
