Tennis World Rankings: Alcaraz Expands His Lead, Djokovic and Rybakina Climb to Third Place

Carlos Alcaraz of Spain has solidified his position as the world number one in the ATP rankings, creating a comfortable gap with his Italian challenger Jannik Sinner following his first title at the Australian Open.

With this victory, Alcaraz has earned an additional 1,600 points, while Sinner lost 1,200 points after bowing out in the semifinals to Serbian Novak Djokovic. The ranking published on Monday, February 2, 2026, shows a difference of 3,350 points between the two players.

Djokovic Reclaims the Podium

Novak Djokovic took advantage of the decline of German Alexander Zverev, who was defeated by Alcaraz in the semifinals and lost 500 points, to climb to third place in the world. Djokovic added 500 points to his tally thanks to his eleventh finals appearance in a Grand Slam tournament.

In the men’s top 10, American Taylor Fritz moved up two spots to seventh, while his compatriot Ben Shelton slipped to ninth place.

Rybakina Third in Women’s Rankings

In the women’s category, Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina advanced two places to claim the third spot globally after her victory at the Australian Open against world number one, Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, who still holds the top position.

Rybakina has significantly closed the gap on Poland’s Iga Swiatek, currently ranked second, marking a return to her career-high ranking achieved in June 2023.

Multiple Changes in the Women’s Top 10

Alongside Rybakina’s rise, American Coco Gauff dropped two places to fifth, while her fellow countrywoman Madison Keys fell six spots to fifteenth place after an early exit in the round of 16. Jessica Pegula now occupies the sixth position.
