The CAF Launches an Investigation Following Incidents at the Al Ahly – AS FAR Match

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) released an official statement on Monday, February 16, announcing the opening of an investigation following unacceptable incidents that occurred during the match between Al Ahly SC and AS FAR, part of the African Champions League.
Strong Condemnation of Violent Acts
In its statement, CAF firmly condemned the acts of violence and vandalism recorded during this match held in Cairo on Sunday, February 15, 2026, emphasizing that such behaviors contradict the values of fair play and sportsmanship.
Referral to the Disciplinary Committee
The governing body of African football clarified that the case has been referred to its Disciplinary Committee to conduct a thorough investigation into the events and identify those involved in these incidents.
Potential Sanctions
CAF also stated that appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken against any individuals found responsible for these acts, in accordance with existing regulations, to ensure the safety of players and maintain the integrity of continental competitions.
