The Casablanca Stock Exchange Opens Lower, MASI Drops by 0.24%

The Casablanca Stock Exchange started its Friday trading session on a negative note. Its main index, the MASI, recorded a decrease of 0.24%, settling at 19,341.73 points at the beginning of the session.

Decline of Benchmark Indices

Following the MASI’s trend, the MASI 20, which encompasses the 20 most liquid stocks on the market, saw a decline of 0.33%, reaching 1,522.84 points.
Meanwhile, the MASI ESG index, which tracks companies with the best environmental, social, and governance ratings according to Moody’s ESG Solutions, decreased by 0.21% to 1,293.26 points.

Pressure on Small and Mid-sized Companies

The MASI Mid and Small Cap index, which reflects the performance of publicly-listed small and mid-sized enterprises, also fell by 0.21%, settling at 1,897.74 points.

Recap of the Previous Session

For reference, Thursday’s session had already ended in decline, with the MASI closing down 0.29%, confirming a hesitant market trend.
