The EU approves the delegated act confirming the agricultural agreement with Morocco.

European Parliament Rejects Motion Against Agricultural Trade Agreement with Morocco

On Wednesday, the European Parliament rejected a motion of objection put forth by several right-wing and far-right groups aimed at blocking the delegated act proposed by the European Commission. This text represents a crucial step in the implementation of commitments arising from the exchange of letters agreement between Morocco and the European Union, signed on October 3, concerning the export of Moroccan agricultural products to the European market.

With this vote, the European Parliament definitively endorses the delegated act, which operationalizes the provisions of the agricultural agreement, explicitly including the regions of Moroccan Sahara. This decision reaffirms the legal continuity of preferential access for products originating from all territories of Morocco.

It is noteworthy that, on October 3, 2025, in Brussels, Morocco and the European Union signed the exchange of letters amending the agricultural agreement between the two parties. This document confirms that agricultural products from the southern provinces enjoy the same market access conditions in Europe as those from the rest of the Kingdom, in accordance with the Morocco-EU Association Agreement.

The agreement also introduces several technical adjustments designed to enhance the marketing and access of Moroccan products. Among these measures are new labeling rules that allow for better information for European consumers through explicit mention of production regions, specifically Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab.

Thus, this decision by the European Parliament represents a significant advancement in the strategic partnership between Morocco and the EU, while strengthening the legal security of Moroccan agricultural exports intended for the European market.
