CAF Awards 2025: African Football Confederation Announces Final Nominees
The African Football Confederation (CAF) has unveiled the final lists of the top three nominees in each men’s category for the CAF Awards 2025, showcasing a strong representation from Moroccan football.
According to a statement from CAF, this prestigious ceremony will take place in Rabat, Morocco, on November 19, starting at 7:00 PM (6:00 PM GMT), celebrating the exceptional performances and achievements that have marked African football this year.
Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi (Paris SG), who has had a remarkable season, is among the top three contenders for the title of “African Player of the Year,” alongside Egypt’s Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) and Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray).
The Best Goalkeeper category features two Moroccan keepers: Yassine Bounou (Al Hilal) and Mounir Mohamedi (RS Berkane), along with South Africa’s Ronwen Williams (Mamelodi Sundowns).
In the “Interclub Player of the Year” category, Moroccans Mohamed Chibi (Pyramids FC) and Oussama Lamlioui (Renaissance Berkane) are listed among the top nominees, competing against Congo’s Fiston Mayele.
The “Coach of the Year” category sees the names of Mohamed Ouahbi and Walid Regragui, alongside Cape Verde’s Budista, forming the top three nominees for this title.
Atlas Lions’ rising stars Othmane Maamma (Watford) and Abdellah Ouazane (Ajax) will contest the “Young Player of the Year” award with South Africa’s Tylon Smith (Queens Park Rangers).
In the “National Team of the Year” category, the Senior National Team and the Under-20 National Team are also nominated for the title of “Men’s National Team of the Year,” alongside the Cape Verdean national team. Meanwhile, Renaissance Sportive de Berkane will compete with Pyramids FC and Mamelodi Sundowns for the African Club of the Year award.
