The Financial Sector Dominates Wealth Production in Morocco in 2024

Significant Contribution to GDP
According to the national accounts of institutional sectors for 2024 published by the High Commission for Planning (HCP), financial and non-financial companies have been the main contributors to national wealth, representing 45.7% of GDP.
Important Role in Savings and Investment
These companies have also played a key role in mobilizing savings and investment:
60.3% of national savings
59.2% of gross fixed capital formation
Contribution from Other Sectors
The contribution of public administrations stood at 14.8% of GDP, while that of households and non-profit institutions serving households (ISBLSM) reached 28.4%. Net taxes on production and imports increased by 1.2 points to represent 11.1% of GDP.
Increase in Gross National Disposable Income
Gross National Disposable Income (GNDI) recorded a growth of 7.7%, reaching 1.709.1 billion dirhams. This growth can be attributed to:
+8% for financial and non-financial companies
+6.9% for households and ISBLSM
+10% for public administrations
The respective contributions to GNDI were: 63.1% for households and ISBLSM, 20.3% for public administrations, and 16.6% for companies (including 2.3% for financial companies).
