High-Level Military Visit to Ethiopia: Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Under the high directives of His Majesty the King, Supreme Chief and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, General Corps Mohamed Berrid, Inspector General of the FAR and Commander of the Southern Zone, is undertaking a working visit to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia from April 23 to 26.

During this visit, the Inspector General of the FAR held a meeting with his Ethiopian counterpart, Marshal Birhanu Jula, Chief of Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces. The focus of their discussions was on exploring means to enhance bilateral military cooperation, as stated in a communiqué from the General Staff of the FAR.

Both officials expressed their satisfaction with the new dynamics characterizing military relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Ethiopia. The communiqué emphasized that in this context, both parties discussed a draft agreement covering various aspects of bilateral military cooperation, aimed at strengthening and broadening the horizons of this partnership, which will be signed between the two countries in the near future.

During the visit, and in the presence of His Majesty the King’s Ambassador to Addis Ababa, Nezha Alaoui M’Hammdi, General Corps Mohamed Berrid engaged in discussions with the Ethiopian Minister of State for Defense, Marta Luigi, regarding ways to bolster military cooperation between the two nations.

The visit also provided an opportunity to explore several military facilities and institutes under the auspices of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces. Highlights included visits to the information network security administration, the Artificial Intelligence Institute, the Bishoftu Air Base, and a munitions factory.
