The National Agency for Water and Forests and its partners strengthen wildlife protection by rescuing and releasing a vulture in Jerada.

On Monday, July 21, 2025, following an alert from local residents, agents from the National Agency for Water and Forests in Jerada rushed to the scene to assess the condition of a griffon vulture found in critical health, presumably due to an attack by stray dogs.
The vulture was immediately transferred to the services of the National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA) in Jerada, where it received necessary veterinary care, clinical examinations, and appropriate laboratory analyses, along with daily monitoring over the next three days.
Subsequently, the Water and Forests agents in Jerada took charge of the vulture’s recovery to continue veterinary care and monitoring for an additional three days, until the bird made a full recovery.
The analysis results confirmed the absence of any serious illness, including avian influenza, and a significant improvement in the animal’s health was observed, with a complete restoration of its physical capabilities.
Thus, as part of the principle of reintroducing wildlife into its natural habitat, the griffon vulture was released in a suitable natural site within the province of Jerada on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
This intervention is part of the ongoing efforts by the National Agency for Water and Forests to protect biodiversity, ensuring a swift response to alerts in close collaboration with all stakeholders, particularly the services of the National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA).
