Thursday Weather: Frost, Thunderstorms, and Strong Winds in Several Regions

Weather Forecast for Thursday

The General Directorate of Meteorology forecasts a partly cloudy day on Thursday, with local thunderstorm showers expected in the northern regions of the Southern provinces, as well as in the Atlas mountains and the central Atlantic plains.

Morning Chill and Frost Risk

Conditions will remain relatively cold, especially in the morning and during the night, with a risk of frost in the High and Middle Atlas, the Rif mountains, the elevated plateaus of the Oriental region, and the Southeast. Low clouds, sometimes accompanied by very light drizzles, are also anticipated along the Mediterranean coast, in the Gharb region, and in the northern parts of the Oriental region, particularly early in the morning and during the night.

Wind Gusts and Local Dust

Strong wind gusts are expected in the Tangier region, the Atlas mountains, the Southeast, the central Atlantic plains, as well as in the Sahara provinces of the Kingdom, with localized dust upheavals in certain areas.

Temperatures: Regional Contrasts

Minimum temperatures will range from -2 to 7°C in the Atlas mountains and their eastern slopes, the Rif, and southern Oriental regions. They will vary between 14 to 18°C in the Southeast, Souss, Saïss, northern Oriental region, Moulouya, western Atlantic plains, near the southern coast, and locally in the northern parts of the Southern provinces. Elsewhere, minimum temperatures will be between 7 and 14°C.

During the day, an increase in temperatures is expected in the northern and central Atlantic plains, Saïss, Oulmès, and the Southeast, while temperatures may decrease slightly or remain stable in other areas.

Sea State

The sea will be slightly rough to rough on the Mediterranean and the Strait, as well as between Tarfaya and Laâyoune, and rough to very rough along the rest of the coastline.
