Two Moroccan Researchers Honored with the Sheikh Zayed Book Award

Moroccan Researchers Recognized at the 19th Sheikh Zayed Book Award
Two Moroccan researchers, Saïd El Aouadi and Latifa Labsir, were honored at the 19th edition of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, as announced by the organizers on Tuesday.
Saïd El Aouadi won the award in the category of Arts and Critique Studies for his book “Food and Speech: Rhetorical and Cultural Excavations in Arab Heritage.” Latifa Labsir was recognized in the Children’s and Young Adult Literature category for her work “Taïf Sabiba.”
In the Literature category, the award went to Hoda Barakat (Lebanon-France) for her novel “Hind, or the Most Beautiful Woman in the World.” In the Translation section, Italian Marco Di Branco received acclaim for his English translation of Paulus Orosius’s work Orosius.
The professor from the UAE, Mohammed Bechari, was awarded in the Contribution to Nation Development category for his book “The Right to Struggle: Perspectives on the Rights of Muslim Women.”
British researcher Andrew Peacock was recognized in the category of Arab Culture in Other Languages for his book “Arab Literary Culture in Southeast Asia during the 17th and 18th Centuries.” Rasheed Alkhayoun (Iraq/UK) was honored in the Arabic Manuscript Editing category for his critical edition of the work “News of Women.”
Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami was also named Cultural Personality of the Year in recognition of his globally impactful literary work, fostering dialogue between cultures and civilizations.
The award ceremony will take place on April 28, organized by the Arabic Language Center, alongside the 34th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair.
This 19th edition saw a record number of nominations, with over 4,000 submissions from 75 countries, including 20 Arab states.
