Valérie Pécresse Announces Two Cooperation Agreements Between Île-de-France and Moroccan Regions

Strengthening Bilateral Relations: A Visit to Morocco by Île-de-France President Valérie Pécresse

The enhancement of bilateral relations was at the heart of discussions on Tuesday in Rabat between Nasser Bourita, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, and Valérie Pécresse, the President of the Île-de-France region, who is on an official visit to Morocco.

Following this meeting, Ms. Pécresse announced that Morocco will be the first partner country to benefit from two cooperation agreements with the Île-de-France region: the first with the Casablanca-Settat region and the second with the Marrakech-Safi region.

She emphasized that the Île-de-France region has already invested one million euros into structural projects in Casablanca-Settat and expressed her pleasure at inaugurating several of these "very beautiful achievements" during her visit. These projects mainly focus on digital training, professional integration for non-graduated youth, particularly in the hospitality sector, and support for startup incubators.

The President of the Île-de-France region also revealed her upcoming visit to Marrakech, where she will evaluate the impact of aid provided to the Al Haouz region following the earthquake and will proceed to sign a second cooperation agreement.

Simultaneously, Ms. Pécresse reiterated her region’s position in support of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Southern provinces, emphasizing that the future of the Sahara can only be envisioned within the Moroccan national framework.

This visit, taking place from April 21 to 24, is part of a broader initiative to strengthen partnerships around three major axes: innovation, education, and sustainable development, involving a significant delegation representing the institutions of the Île-de-France region.
