Weather Alert: Snow, Cold Wave, and Strong Winds in Several Regions of Morocco

The General Directorate of Meteorology forecasts snowfall, an intense cold wave, and strong gusts of wind in several regions of the Kingdom starting today, Monday, January 19, until Wednesday, January 21, 2026, according to an “orange” level alert bulletin.
Expected Snowfall
Snowfall is anticipated in areas situated at altitudes above 1300 meters, with expected accumulations ranging from 10 to 20 cm in the provinces of Ifrane, Khénifra, Midelt, Boulemane, Sefrou, Guercif, and Taza. In other regions such as Al Haouz, Azilal, Béni Mellal, and Ouarzazate, accumulations will vary between 5 and 10 cm. These conditions are expected to persist from noon today until Wednesday at 6 AM.
Severe Cold Wave
A cold wave is forecasted, with temperatures ranging from -4 to -9 °C in the provinces of Tinghir, Al Haouz, Midelt, Boulemane, Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Azilal, Béni Mellal, and Ifrane. In other areas such as Figuig, Khénifra, Chichaoua, Sefrou, Taza, and Guercif, temperatures are expected to oscillate between 0 and -3 °C.
Strong Wind Gusts
Gusty winds of 75 to 85 km/h are expected in the provinces of Figuig, Sidi Ifni, and Guelmim today from noon until 11 PM. These strong winds will continue from Tuesday at 3 AM until Wednesday at 6 AM in the provinces of Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Driouch, Figuig, Jerada, Nador, Taourirt, Midelt, Boulemane, and Guercif.
