Weather Alert: Snow, Frost, and Strong Winds in Morocco

The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has urged Moroccans to remain vigilant, particularly in mountainous areas affected by snow and frost.
Significant Snowfall Expected
Snowfall exceeding 1,200 meters in altitude (15-25 cm) is anticipated on Tuesday at 11:00 PM in the provinces of Ifrane, Boulemane, Khenifra, Al Haouz, Tinghir, Taroudant, Ouarzazate, Midelt, Azilal, and Béni Mellal, according to the DGM’s orange alert bulletin.
More moderate precipitation, ranging from 5 to 15 cm, is expected above 900 meters from Tuesday at 11:00 AM to Wednesday at 8:00 AM in the provinces of Taza, Chichaoua, Figuig, Driouch, Jerada, Taourirt, Sefrou, Al Hoceima, Guercif, Berkane, and Oujda-Angad.
Cold Wave Announced
Temperatures will be particularly low this week:
-13 to -4°C in the provinces of Tinghir, Al Haouz, Azilal, Béni Mellal, Ifrane, Midelt, and Boulemane.
-6 to 0°C for Jerada, Taourirt, Khenifra, Sefrou, Al Hoceima, Guercif, Taza, Chefchaouen, Figuig, Chichaoua, Taroudant, and Ouarzazate.
The DGM recommends that citizens protect children and the elderly in light of this significant drop in temperatures.
Severe Winds Forecasted
From Tuesday at 11:00 AM to Wednesday at 3:00 AM, gusts of wind reaching 75 to 85 km/h will affect the provinces of Boulemane, Midelt, Nador, Jerada, Figuig, Driouch, Al Haouz, Tiznit, Tinghir, Taroudant, Sidi Ifni, Ouarzazate, Guelmim, and Assa-Zag.
