Weather Alert: Snowfall, Cold Wave, Rain, and Wind from Saturday to Tuesday
Weather Alerts in Several Provinces of the Kingdom
The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has announced the likelihood of snowfall, heavy rain or thunderstorms, a cold wave, and strong winds expected from Saturday to Tuesday in various provinces across the Kingdom.
In an orange alert bulletin, the DGM specifies that snowfall starting at altitudes of 1,300 meters (50-90 cm) will affect the provinces of Al Haouz, Azilal, and Ouarzazate from Saturday at 10:45 AM until Monday at 11:00 PM.
During this same period, snow accumulations between 30-50 cm are anticipated in the provinces of Chichaoua, Midelt, Beni Mellal, Tinghir, Ifrane, Khénifra, Sefrou, Boulemane, Al Hoceima, Guercif, Taza, and Taroudant.
Snowfall beginning at 1,200 meters is also forecasted in the provinces of Driouch, Figuig, Jerada, Errachidia, Taourirt, El Hajeb, Chefchaouen, Chtouka Ait Baha, and Tiznit.
Furthermore, heavy rain or thunderstorms (30-50 mm) are anticipated from Saturday at 10 PM to Sunday at 12 PM in the provinces of Tangier-Assilah, Fahs-Anjra, Mdiq-Fnideq, Tetouan, Larache, Kenitra, Safi, Chtouka Ait Baha, and Tiznit, with 25-35 mm expected in Rabat, Salé, Skhirate-Témara, Benslimane, Casablanca, Mohammédia, Mediouna, Berrechid, Nouaceur, El Jadida, Sidi Bennour, Essaouira, Agadir Ida Outanane, Sidi Slimane, Sidi Kacem, Khémisset, Youssoufia, Inezgane Ait Melloul, and Sidi Ifni.
Additionally, a cold wave with temperatures ranging from -9 to -3°C is forecasted from Sunday to Tuesday in the provinces of Tinghir, Al Haouz, Midelt, Boulemane, Sefrou, Guercif, Taza, Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Chichaoua, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Ifrane, and Khénifra.
Strong wind gusts (75-85 km/h) are also expected on Saturday from 10:45 AM to 5 PM in the provinces of Tiznit, Tata, and Taroudant, as well as from Sunday at 9 AM to 11 PM in the provinces of Tata, Chtouka Ait Baha, Tiznit, Taroudant, Sidi Ifni, Tan-Tan, Guelmim, Assa-Zag, Tarfaya, and Es-semara.
