Weather Disturbances Across Several Regions of the Kingdom

The General Directorate of Meteorology predicts unstable weather conditions for Saturday, characterized by periods of sustained rainfall, localized thunderstorms, a drop in temperatures, and gusty winds across various regions of the Kingdom.

Thunderstorms in the Rif, Atlas, and Oriental Regions

According to forecasts, rain and showers, some of which may be thunderous, will affect the Rif, the Saïss region, the High and Middle Atlas, as well as their adjacent plains, in addition to the northern part of the Oriental region.

Isolated showers are also expected in Tangier, Loukkos, Gharb, and the Atlantic plains north of El Jadida, as well as in the southeastern Oriental region.

Snowfall in Areas Above 1,200 Meters

Snowfall is anticipated in the peaks of the High and Middle Atlas, the Rif, and the high plateaus of the Oriental, particularly in areas exceeding 1,200 meters in altitude. These weather conditions may disrupt traffic in mountainous regions.

Gusty Winds and Localized Dust Storms

Strong to very strong gusts of wind are expected in Tangier, the Rif, the northwest of the country, the Atlas mountains and their surrounding areas, as well as in Saïss, the phosphate plateaus, Oulmès, the Atlantic plains, the Mediterranean coastline, the Oriental, the southeast, and the southern provinces.

Localized dust storms are also predicted in the Oriental, the southeast, and the southern provinces.

Drop in Temperatures

Minimum temperatures will range from -9 to 4°C in the Atlas mountains, from -3 to 0°C in the Rif and the high plateaus, from 10 to 19°C in the Saharan provinces and near the coasts, and from 6 to 11°C in the rest of the country. Maximum temperatures are expected to drop noticeably throughout the day.

Rough to Very Rough Seas

As for sea conditions, the water will be rough to strong, becoming moderately rough to rough along the Mediterranean coast. It will be rough to strong in the Strait, very strong north of Tarfaya, and rough to strong along the southern coasts.
