Winners Revealed in Rabat

2024 National Press Grand Prix: Winners Announced in Rabat

On Monday evening in Rabat, the jury for the 23rd edition of the National Press Grand Prix 2024 unveiled the names of the award winners across various categories. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, the President of the Constitutional Court, Mohamed Amine Benabdellah, as well as numerous figures from the media, culture, and literature sectors.

Honorary Awards

The honorary prize, celebrating individuals who have significantly impacted the Moroccan media landscape, was awarded jointly to:

  • Naïm Kamal, journalist and publishing director of Quid.ma,
  • Said El Jadidi, former journalist at the SNRT Spanish desk, awarded posthumously.

The honorary prize dedicated to Moroccan journalists working abroad recognized:

  • Jawad Badda, journalist at beIN Sports,
  • Fatima Zahra Bouaziz, correspondent for the Spanish agency EFE in Morocco.

Categories for Radio, Television, and Print Media

Television

The television award was presented jointly to:

  • Abdellah Jaafari (Medi1 TV) for his report on the Mohammed VI Academy of Football,
  • Younes El Bdiwi (Cultural Channel – SNRT) for his segment on the Scientific Waqf in Morocco.

Radio

The radio award was jointly awarded to:

  • Nabila Qamimi (Alidaa Alwatania) for her report on the Green March,
  • Mounia Arshi, for her work on proposed reforms to the Family Code.

Print and Electronic Press

In the print media category, the prize went to Nabila Bakas (Le Matin) for her article titled, “Public Hospitals… When Security Agents Dictate Their Own Law.”

In the electronic press category, the award was given to Khadija Alimoussa (TelQuel Arabi) for her investigation into the enrollment of children in the Tindouf camps.

Agency Press

The agency press award was won by Mohamed Haddadi for his article, “The Rosary: The Undisputed Star of Gifts Offered by Pilgrims.”

Investigative Journalism and Amazigh Productions

Investigative Journalism

The award was given to Asma Aïnoun and Zakaria Dhalfi (2M) for their investigation titled “Moukhtafoun Program: The Marouane Al-Mokaddem Case.”

Amazigh Journalistic Production

This award was jointly presented to:

  • Ibrahim Ishwi (Amazigh Radio) for “Tada… When Amazigh Tribal Customs Precede International Law,”
  • Fadwa Amghar (Amazigh Radio) for her report on the harvesting of mussels in the Tiznit province.

Culture and Sahrawi Hassani Space

The award was given to:

  • Cheikh Maâ El-Ainine (Radio Laâyoune) for his report on the Tiznit-Dakhla highway,
  • Ghali Karhi (Laâyoune Channel) for his feature on the horses of Oued-Noun.

Regional Press, Photography, and Cartoons

The regional press award went to Hafedh Malain (Laâyoune Now) for his report titled “The Glorious Green March: Half a Century of Loyalty.”

The photography prize was awarded to Abdelmajid Bziouat (L’Économiste) for his report, “M’hamid el Ghizlan… A Temple of Nomadic Heritage.”

The cartoon prize was not awarded this year.

A Tribute to Media Figures

The ceremony also paid tribute to several media personalities, including Leïla Maâ El Ainine, Mohamed Dakka, Mohamed Seddik Maaninou, and sports journalist Lino Bako.

Jury Recommendations for Future Editions

The jury chair, Fatima Zahra Ouriaghli, praised the quality of the 156 works in competition, showcasing the professionalism and commitment of Moroccan journalists.

She proposed:

  • The establishment of an award for presentation and dialogue,
  • A special prize for sports journalism,
  • The introduction of second and third prizes per category to further encourage creativity.

The jury also included Mohammed Taoufik Ennassiri, Mouhsine Bountaj, Abdellatif Bensfia, Sanae Rahimi, Mohammed Zouak, Fatima Anejdam, Adil Alaoui, Mohamed Bourouis, Ahmed Arkam, and Youssef Belhaissi.
