Women’s AFCON 2026: CAF Reschedules the Tournament in Morocco

The African Football Confederation (CAF) announced on Thursday the **rescheduling of the 2026 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations**, which will now take place **from July 25 to August 16, 2026**.
This decision was made following several consultations with the partners of the African governing body, notably **FIFA and various stakeholders in African football**.
In an official statement, CAF indicated that this change in schedule aims to **ensure the success of this important continental women’s football competition**.
The organization clarified that this decision comes **in light of certain unforeseen circumstances**, without providing further details regarding their nature.
CAF reminded that **Morocco was awarded the rights to host the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in October 2024**.
Initially, the tournament was set to occur **from March 17 to April 3, 2026**, prior to this schedule adjustment.
Despite this postponement, the African Football Confederation emphasizes that **preparations for hosting the tournament are proceeding as planned**.
