North Korea Claims Fourth Title at U17 Women’s World Cup

The North Korean national team has secured its fourth title at the U17 Women’s World Cup, defeating the Netherlands 3-0 in the final held on Saturday at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.

The goals for North Korea came from Kim Won Sim (14th minute), Pak Rye Yong (18th minute), and Ri Ui Gyong (42nd minute).

With this victory, North Korea further establishes its record as the most successful nation in this competition, having previously claimed the world title in 2008, 2016, and 2014.

In the third-place match, Mexico triumphed over Brazil following a tense penalty shootout, winning 3-1. Both teams ended regular time level at 1-1, with Kaylane opening the scoring for Brazil in the 78th minute. Mexico equalized in stoppage time (90+6) thanks to an own goal by Evelin.

Spain was awarded the fair play prize, while North Korea’s Kim Won Sim was named the tournament’s most valuable player.

The awards ceremony featured notable attendees, including the Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, Mohamed Saâd Berrada; the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa; and FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

This global competition, hosted in Morocco with the participation of 24 teams divided into six groups, took place across three venues at the Mohammed VI Academy of Football and the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.
