World Cup 2026: Here’s Where and When the Atlas Lions’ Matches Will Take Place
FIFA Announces Morocco’s Match Schedule for the 2026 World Cup
On Saturday, December 6, FIFA unveiled the complete match schedule for the Moroccan national team during the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Mexico, the United States, and Canada from June 11 to July 19. The Atlas Lions have been placed in Group C, and they now know their opponents and the cities that will host their matches.
The opening game for the Moroccan team will be against Brazil, taking place in New York (New Jersey) on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 6:00 PM local time (11:00 PM GMT+1), as announced by FIFA during a ceremony in Washington.
The second match for the Atlas Lions, scheduled against Scotland, will occur in Boston on Friday, June 19, at 6:00 PM local time (11:00 PM GMT+1).
Morocco’s third match, against Haiti, is set to be held in Atlanta on Wednesday, June 24, at 6:00 PM local time (11:00 PM GMT+1).
The Moroccan team’s initial matches will thus take place on the East Coast of the United States, making it easier for players and fans to travel between the three host cities.
New York, Boston (Massachusetts), and Atlanta (Georgia) also host significant Moroccan communities in the United States and benefit from several international airports and widely accessible public transportation options.
Morocco was drawn against Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti in Group C of the 2026 World Cup following a draw held on Friday in Washington.
The draw ceremony was attended by U.S. President Donald Trump, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, whose countries are co-hosting the 2026 World Cup, along with delegations from the qualifying nations.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated that the 2026 World Cup is set to be "the largest World Cup ever organized."
The 42 already qualified countries will be joined in March by six playoff teams, bringing the total number of participants to 48—a first in World Cup history.
This unprecedented edition of the World Cup will be the first to be co-hosted by three countries and the first to feature 48 teams, competing in a total of 104 matches, with 78 in the United States, 13 in Canada, and 13 in Mexico.
