Young Moroccan Engineers at the Heart of a Transforming Economic Landscape

The job market in Morocco is experiencing vibrant activity surrounding young engineers, who have become highly sought-after by national companies. During the 25th Mines-Rabat Enterprises Forum held in Rabat under the theme “Morocco-Gulf Countries: A Visionary Royal Strategy Advocating an Unprecedented Alliance”, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, highlighted the strong demand for these highly qualified talents.
Once primarily coveted by foreign firms, these engineers are now at the heart of major projects implemented within Morocco. “The country is transforming into a true land of opportunities,” the minister asserted, adding that the Moroccan youth, who are better educated and more ambitious, now aspire to jobs that match their aspirations.
Mr. Mezzour also emphasized the significant initiatives underway in the Kingdom, such as the expansion of social protection, social assistance aimed at nearly 4 million households, and preparations for co-hosting the World Cup—projects that reflect profound transformation.
Economically, Morocco is increasingly attracting international investors. The minister praised “an unprecedented economic dynamic,” characterized by large-scale investments that contribute to redefining the scale and ambition of national industrial development.
In this context, Omar Alaoui Mhamdi, managing director of ACWA Power Morocco, highlighted the growing economic relations between Morocco and the Gulf countries. He specifically mentioned enhanced exchanges with Saudi Arabia and the United States, while trade flows with Qatar hover around $300 million, promising positive prospects.
Mr. Alaoui Mhamdi also stressed Morocco’s strategic role in the global energy transition, thanks to the growth of green electricity, seen as a major economic lever for the future of the Kingdom.
Serving as a genuine bridge between the academic world and the professional sphere, the Mines-Rabat Enterprises Forum offers a rich two-day program: inspiring conferences, interactive exhibitions, and a recruitment space. The event aims to create concrete opportunities for young talents and strengthen ties with key economic players.
