World No. 1 Jannik Sinner easily defeated Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime 6-0, 6-2 on Thursday to qualify for the semifinals of the Cincinnati Masters 1000.
The Italian, the defending champion in Ohio, recorded his 25th consecutive victory on hard courts, thoroughly dominating the 28th-ranked player in just 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Sinner conceded only nine points out of 34 during the first set. He experienced a slight dip at the start of the second set, getting broken and falling behind 0-2, before regaining control and winning the last six games in a row.
In Saturday’s semifinal, Sinner will face French player Térence Atmane (23), ranked 136th in the world and coming through the qualifiers.
