The inaugural session included a video presentation showcasing the evolution of the Moroccan police institution and its services over the years.
As the supreme governing body of INTERPOL, the General Assembly is the largest global gathering of law enforcement leaders. It provides an opportunity for member countries to build relationships and share experiences.
This year’s choice of Morocco as the host for this significant global event underscores the Kingdom’s reputation and image in its regional and international context, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. It reflects the credibility and trust in Moroccan security institutions, recognized for their expertise in combating terrorism and transnational organized crime.
Each year, the General Assembly reviews major crime trends and security threats at a global level. This session will address various topics, including the identification and dismantling of transnational organized crime, the destruction of international fraud centers, the strengthening of INTERPOL’s global policing capabilities, and the promotion of women’s roles in policing.
Discussions will also focus on the outcomes of the pilot project “Silver Notice” and the promotion of the ratification of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime.
Furthermore, this 93rd session, which will continue until November 27, will elect new members to the Executive Committee, the governing body that sets the Organization’s direction between sessions, including the President, as their terms expire.
The Assembly makes all significant decisions regarding general policy, necessary resources for international cooperation, working methods, finances, and activity programs, all of which are formalized in resolutions.
