“Welcome Chinese”: A New Era for Sino-Moroccan Tourism

Morocco Takes a Significant Step to Attract Chinese Travelers, One of the Most Dynamic Tourist Markets in the World. The Kingdom Positions Itself as a Pioneer by Adopting the International Certification “Welcome Chinese,” the Only Official Standard Validated by the Chinese Government.
“Welcome Chinese”: A New Era for Sino-Moroccan Tourism, Led by Yangjin He
At the heart of this initiative is Yangjin (Yummy) He, a businesswoman with a fascinating background who embodies the connection between Morocco and China. Originally from China, she holds a degree in Tourism Management from Southwest Jiao Tong University and an MBA from Thailand. She began her career as a journalist and facilitator before marketing for prestigious five-star hotels.
Having lived in Morocco for over a decade, Ms. He has built a robust network within the economic and tourism sectors. Through the establishment of a travel agency, Chinese restaurants, a hotel, an import-export company, and a service firm, she has forged strong ties with both Chinese and Moroccan business communities. This dual experience, both in China and Morocco, enables her to understand the expectations of Chinese travelers while navigating the realities of the local market.
“I have always believed that travel is a bridge between cultures. With Welcome Chinese, we are creating this bridge so that Morocco becomes a familiar, warm, and perfectly tailored destination for Chinese visitors,” explains Ms. He.
An Internationally Recognized Excellence Label
The “Welcome Chinese” certification is designed to meet the specific needs of Chinese travelers: communication in Chinese, suitable dining options, hospitality aligned with cultural standards, and convenient payment methods like China UnionPay.
Businesses that join this program gain significant visibility and promotional opportunities through the network of the Chinese Tourism Academy (CTA), backed by official partners such as China Central Television (CCTV), the state-run television network of China.
Already adopted by global leaders like Paris Airports, Rome Fiumicino Airport, Accor Hotels, and the Ferrari Museum, this label is recognized as a mark of trust and quality.
New Prospects for Morocco
With its rollout in Morocco, Welcome Chinese opens new opportunities for tourism stakeholders: hotels, restaurants, museums, airlines, train stations, shopping centers, and cultural sites, among others.
For Ms. He, this project goes beyond being just a label:
“It’s an opportunity for Moroccan tourism stakeholders to connect directly to the Chinese distribution network and gain unique visibility in this market.”
This certification aims to become a must-have for those looking to enhance their appeal and establish lasting connections to one of the most influential tourist markets in the world.
