Benssaïd: Morocco’s Selection as Guest of Honor at MASA 2026 Reflects the Strength of Moroccan-Ivorian Relations

The Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, stated that Morocco’s selection as the honored guest for the 14th edition of the African Market of Performing Arts (MASA) reflects the depth and strength of the ties between the Kingdom and Côte d’Ivoire.

In a speech delivered on his behalf in Abidjan, the minister emphasized that this distinction is not a coincidence; it reflects the strong historical bonds between the two countries, with Morocco placing culture at the heart of bridging peoples.

Highlighting Moroccan Cultural Heritage
He also showcased the richness and diversity of Moroccan cultural heritage, including music, craftsmanship, literature, and gastronomy, noting that the Kingdom will present an artistic program worthy of this continental event.

Promoting Cultural and Creative Industries in Africa
The minister stressed the strategic role of MASA in promoting cultural and creative industries in Africa, supporting the circulation of artists, training professionals, and developing the performing arts, notably music, theater, and dance.

A Showcase of Morocco’s African Influence
The evening was highlighted by the screening of an institutional film showcasing Morocco’s advancements in several strategic sectors, including infrastructure, renewable energy, and the automotive industry, while also emphasizing its commitment to Africa and the richness of its heritage.

A Strong Moroccan Presence in Abidjan
The event gathered a significant Moroccan delegation along with Ivorian officials, featuring Moroccan artists and presenting an exhibition titled “Treasures of Morocco,” dedicated to the cultural and heritage diversity of the Kingdom.
